The word "Flamencona" invokes a bold and tenacious woman within flamenco. Raquel Heredia and Xianix Barrera bring to the stage their powerful and unapologetically robust femininity, in celebration of their respective roots and the essence that makes them flamencas - FLAMENCONAS. Ms. Barrera presents an intimate evening of flamenco music and dance featuring some of Spain's and New York's elite flamenco artists including dancer Raquel Heredia, singer Sergio Gómez, guitarist Ángel Ruiz, violinist Ali Bello, and accompanist Manolo de Córdoba. Join us for this special and unique presentation of flamenco live and in direct right in the heart of El Barrio.

A native New Yorker, Xianix Barrera began her flamenco studies in New York before continuing her training in Seville, Spain under the guidance of flamenco masters such as Andres Peña, Concha Vargas, Patricia Guerrero and Carmen Ledesma. A recipient of a prestigious scholarship to attend Jacob Pillow's Cultural Traditions program led by Soleded Barrio and Noche Flamenca, Ms. Barrera's passion for flamenco has led her to become a prominent dancer, educator, and producer of flamenco performances and classes. In 2011, Ms. Barrera produced her first sold-out flamenco production, Sabor Flamenco, at the Poet's Den Theater in Spanish Harlem. Ms. Barrera has dedicated her life's work to flamenco as she passionately believes in its power as a community art form, one in which non-verbal expression creates and fosters an atmosphere of integration amongst those who partake in it--regardless of their age, background, or life experiences.
