The Towne Street Theatre has extended its play submission call for their 4th Annual Ten Minute Play Festival. Towne Street is seeking plays relevant to the festival's theme, "The Black Experience" - Colored, Negro, Black, African-American; a collection of our stories.
The submission deadline is October 30, 2010. The festival will take place during Black History Month, February, 2011, at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood.
Towne Street Theatre, LA's premiere African American Theatre Company, wants to fully represent the community and seeks plays that span the entire black experience, in all genres, including comedy, drama, satire, melodrama, and opera/music-theater. Works that explore relationships, family, cultural intersections, identity and politics, as well as historic plays, are welcomed.
Playwrights of all ethnicities and ages are encouraged to submit their work including plays with color blind and mixed race casts.
Rules and Guidelines - Plays should be sent via e-mail to Producer, Veronica Thompson at vthompson2@yahoo.com. Each play submitted will be charged a $10.00 processing fee; payments are made online at www.townestreet.org. Plays will not be considered without the submission fee. Applicants may submit up to two plays.
There will be first, second, and third place cash prizes for audience favorites, and all playwrights selected will receive an honorarium.
