To be perfectly candid, I found NBC's presentation of PETER PAN LIVE! to be completely unwatchable this past holiday season. However, my review copy of the soundtrack CD landed in my mailbox yesterday. The recording is making me rethink my abandoning the film in the middle of "Hook's Tango." Ultimately, Broadway Records' PETER PAN LIVE! (Original Soundtrack of the NBC Television Event) is nicely entertaining and quite charming. (more...)

Today in 2009, Hairspraiy closed at the Neil Simon Theatre after 2,641 performances. Hairspray is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and 'downtown' rhythm and blues. In 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. (more...)

As I'm sure you know, this eight-episode, four-week 'event' features lyrics by Tony-nominee and Grammy-winner Glenn Slater and music by Grammy, Oscar, and Tony-winner Alan Menken; who seems to be in desperate search for the Emmy to round out his EGOT. Tickets for the 2015 KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY will take place Friday, January 9th, 2015 to Thursday, January 15th, 2015, and is an annual event when kids ages 6 to 18 can see participating Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult.
