Tony and Obie Award winning performer Priscilla Lopez will perform at the company's 20th Anniversary celebration tonight, June 6th. Lopez, who originated the role of "Diana" in A Chorus Line, performed a one-woman show entitled Class Mothers '68 by Eric H. Weinberger at Luna Stage in 1999 at the company's first space in Montclair.
Luna Stage's 20th Anniversary Celebration will pay Tribute to founder, Jane Mandel, who after 20 years as artistic director is stepping down to allow time to spend with family and to explore other creative endeavors.
The evening will be hosted by award-winning actress, singer and producer SuzzAnne Douglas and will feature a cocktail hour, full dinner, silent auction and performances in tribute to Mandel and Luna Stage. Ms. Douglas and Ms. Lopez are joined by Frankie Faison, star of stage and film and Cinemax's current Banshee, who will perform a short piece by playwright Ben Clawson. Other performers, many of whom have graced Luna's stages over the years, include Robin Irwin, Rachel Black Spaulding, Pat Morrissy, Craig Alan Edwards, Mona Hennessy, Kathleen Marsh, and the Mi Casa Band (Michael Aquino, Deivis Garcia, E J Keitel, and Chris White).
The evening will also include a special presentation to Patrick Morrissy, Executive Director of HANDS, Inc. which has supported Luna Stage since their move to the Valley Arts District.
Silent auction items will include a one week stay at a beautiful 2 bedroom cottage in Loire, France, a 2 night/3 day stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek on the Disney campus, a one week stay in a vacation home in Edgartown, MA on beautiful Martha's Vineyard, as well as gifts from fitness clubs, theatre tickets, restaurant/theatre packages, spas and more.
