Tony Winner Michael Cerveris Leads Reading of THE GOREE GIRLS Musical Today

An invite-only industry presentation of the country musical THE GOREE GIRLS, with book and lyrics by Michael Bradley, music by Artie Sievers, directed by Ashley Brooke Monroe, and musical direction by Ryan McCurdy today, December 17th, 2015 at 3:00pm.

Set in post-depression era Texas, THE GOREE GIRLS is inspired by a true story about a group of women at the Goree State Farm, an all-women's penitentiary, who form a band and become an overnight sensation through a prison-based radio program. In their newfound fame, they dream of being pardoned and set free. A story of hope and redemption, THE GOREE GIRLS is "Chicago" meets "Orange is the New Black" with a country twang.

THE GOREE GIRLS will feature Ephie Aardema* (Bridges of Madison County), Sydney Blaxill (The Nomad), Theresa Burns*, Michael Cerveris* (Fun Home), Josh Davis* (Beautiful), Ben Estus* (The Book of Mormon), Daniel Everidge*(FOUND) Haley Jones, Sara Kapner* (Bare), Stephen Lyons*, Bonnie Milligan*(Kinky Boots), Lauren Patten* (Fun Home), Jacqueline Petroccia* (Always....Patsy Cline), Brittane Rowe and Erikka Walsh* (Once), with stage directions by Becca Ballenger*.
