Earlier this week, Broadway vet Tony Vincent made his first appearance on NBC's singing competition THE VOICE, where he performed his on rendition of Queen's "We Are the Champions." Mentor Cee Lo quickly snatched up the rocker for his team, so we'll be seeing more of Vincent on the show in the future. The single is now available on iTunes here.
Vincent writes on his new mentor: " I'm absolutely thrilled to have been chosen by this man and I truly believe he is the best coach for me. Cee Lo thinks outside of the box. He's amazingly creative. His knowledge of music (and the history of music) is massive. He’s epic in his production style, and is sensitive to finding the right angle to each song he advises his contestants to perform. I'm truly looking forward to working with this talented gent."
THE VOICE airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
Vincent's Broadway credits include JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR as Judas and RENT as Mark Cohen; most recently he was seen in the Green Day rock musical AMERICAN IDIOT.
Celebrity musician coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton return for the show's second season, along with Carson Daly as host and Christina Milian who joins as social correspondent. The show's innovative format features three stages of competition: the blind audition, the battle phase and the live performance shows. In the end, each coach will have one star artist ready to compete against the other teams' finalists to be named "The Voice."
