Today, December 4, indie-pop band Sky-Pony (fronted by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham) will hit the stage at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory to celebrate the release of their debut LP Beautiful Monster - which drops the same day from Knitting Factory Records. The extravaganza will also include performances from acclaimed comedic folk duo Future Folk and DJs Andrew Andrew.

Sky-Pony has built a cult following for its live shows which serve up lush, lyrical, often cheeky indie-pop with a healthy dose of drama. Led by Worsham and her husband, Obie winning songwriter Kyle Jarrow, the raucous Brooklyn-based group is known for its highly-theatrical sets-incorporating choreography, costumes and projections. Their shows are perhaps best described as a cross between rock concert, performance art, and carnival. In the past they've included acrobats, burlesque dancers, beatboxers and full dance squads. The NY Times has dubbed them "an energetic Brooklyn indie band with a penchant for theatrical stagings and choreography" and The Wall Street Journal has called them "tight, fierce, hilarious and out of their minds".

Their debut full length album, Beautiful Monster, was produced by Jarrow and producer/engineer Michael Tudor, whom the band met through musician friend and collaborator Duncan Sheik. Tudor is known for his work with Sheik, The Strokes, Rufus Wainwright and others. You can listen to the first single off the album,The Watcher, here. The record release show happens tonight, December 4 at 8pm with performances from Future Folk, Andrew Andrew, Sky-Pony and more. The Knitting Factory is located at 361 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY. General admission tickets are $15 and VIP tickets are $40, available at http://bk.knittingfactory.com/event/6128445
