Tony Nominee Andy Karl to Host Roundabout's 2015 Student Theatre Arts Festival

Roundabout Theatre Company and Education at Roundabout have announced the fifth annual Student Theatre Arts Festival, hosted by 2015 Tony Award nominee Andy Karl (On the Twentieth Century).

The Student Theatre Arts Festival is Monday, May 18 at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street). The evening begins with a student design exhibition at 6:00pm, followed by opening remarks from Andy Karl and performances at 6:30pm. Tickets are FREE.

Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominee Andy Karl currently stars as "Bruce Granit" in Roundabout's critically acclaimed revival of On the Twentieth Century.

The 2015 Student Theatre Arts Festival features performances and design work from Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre, Bronx Theatre High School, Curtis High School (Staten Island), Esperanza Preparatory Academy (Manhattan), Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School (Brooklyn), High School of Art & Design (Manhattan), High School of Fashion Industries (Manhattan), Intermediate School 237 (Queens), Intermediate School 34 (Staten Island), Intermediate School 109 (Brooklyn), Intermediate School 111 (Manhattan), James Madison High School (Brooklyn), Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis High School (Manhattan), Port Richmond High School (Staten Island), Repertory Company High School for Theatre Arts (Manhattan), and Roundabout's own after school program, Student Production Workshop.

The Student Theatre Arts Festival features the work of students from 14 partner schools, representing the five boroughs of New York City. Student groups will present excerpts from their school plays and musicals and have work displayed in a design gallery.

The evening begins with a "Gallery Walk" through exhibits of students' costume and set designs. Student performers will present selected scenes and musical numbers from original and existing plays and musicals. The festival provides student artists a chance to celebrate their artistic work from this school year and share their talents with family and friends.

Tickets for the Student Theatre Arts Festival are FREE and available on a first come, first serve basis in person at Roundabout's American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street) at 6:00pm on May 18th.
