According to a recent report in the New York Times, the 27 members of the Tony nominating committee will meet, as per tradition, at the Edison Cafe in the Theatre District on the day before the nominations are announced.

There was some speculation that, due to the police activity in Times Square on Saturday, May 1st, some members of the committee had been unable to attend shows they had planned on seeing. According to the report, this was not the case and the nominators are expected to cast their ballots tomorrow in preparation for the announcement on Tuesday.

The Times also spoke with several past and present nominators regarding the selection process. Todd London, artistic director of the New Dramatists, said that the committee rarely discusses their preferences amongst one another during the selection process. "As I remember it, there was never any discussion among the nominators of the performances or the performers, no, ‘Oh, she was great,' or, ‘Oh, I loved her and hated him.'"

Teresa Eyring, executive director of the Theatre Communications Group, said that the committee takes their position very seriously and ensures they each see every performance. "I've found that we're all on the same page in terms of absolutely committing and devoting ourselves to seeing everything and being as attentive and aware of every detail of a production as we possible can."
