Tony Committee Announces Eligibility for Chita Rivera, Color

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the second time this season to decide the eligibility of Broadway productions for the 2006 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, presented by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing.

It was decided that the production of Latinologues will be considered in the Best Play category.

For In My Life, Jessica Boevers and Christopher J. Hanke will both be considered in the Leading Actress/Actor in a Musical categories.

For Jersey Boys, John Lloyd Young will be considered in the Leading Actor in a Musical category.

For The Woman in White, Maria Friedman will be considered in the Leading Actress in a Musical category.

For The Color Purple, LaChanze will be considered in the Leading Actress in a Musical category.

Finally, Chita Rivera The Dancer's Life will be considered in the Best Musical category.

All other decisions were consistent with the opening night credits.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met previously in September 2005 to consider shows which opened between May and September. Today was the Committee's second meeting. Additional meetings will take place prior to the Tony Awards nomination announcements which are scheduled for Tuesday, May 16th.

Celebrating their 60th Anniversary, The Tony Awards, will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from Radio City Music Hall on the CBS television network Sunday, June 11th.
