Multi-award-winning performer, chroeographer and director Tommy Tune discusses his time atop the theatrical heap as well as looks forward to future ventures as part of a new interview in promotion of his ongoing cabaret appearances.
Tune shares that Broadway these days is markedly different than what it was when he was creating success after success in the 1980s, relating, "I'd love to do something if I came up with a wonderful idea for a project that really spoke to me.... But I don't know that, in my heart and soul, I am equipped for this loud, almost aggressive tone."
Furthermore, Tune explains, "I always admired shows in which you slightly lean forward to enter its world. But so many push me into the back of my seat."
As for his own track record and the revolutionary musicals and plays he had a hand in shaping, Tune opines, "Every play invented something new, something new that never had been on the planet before... There was no formula."
