Tom Gold Dance Announces Inaugural Fall Season

Continuing its 10th anniversary celebration, Tom Gold Dance will present its inaugural fall season, Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Florence Gould Hall at the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF). Returning to Gould Hall for the first time since 2011, the Company will give the New York City Premiere of Tom Gold Dance Founder and Director Tom Gold's Apparatus Hominus.

 

"With our first self-produced fall program," says Gold, "we are thrilled to begin a new tradition that expands our presence in our home city, while creating additional opportunities to share new and recently completed work. We are so grateful to our many supporters: through their ongoing generosity and commitment to our mission, we are able to fulfill this important objective in the Company's development."

The World Premiere of Apparatus Hominus, originally for four dancers, took place Friday, July 27, 2018 at TurnPark Art Space, a cultural, recreational, and exhibition center that features a site-specific sculpture garden on the site of a former lime quarry in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The work, set to selections from Nico Muhly's Drones and his soundtrack to the 2013 film Kill Your Darlings, was repeated July 28.

 

Performed outdoors in a stone-amphitheater, Apparatus Hominus draws its name from and pays homage to the many works of metal found across the Park's 16 acres.

 

For the New York City Premiere of Apparatus Hominus, Gold plans to add new sections, as well as increase the number of dancers.

 

The complete roster of artists will be announced at a later date.

Tickets, $35 and $25 ($10 student ticket with valid ID, in person only) are now available at tomgolddance.org/fall. Pricing will be announced prior to August 28.

About Tom Gold
Internationally recognized dancer, choreographer, and instructor Tom Gold is the Founder and Artistic Director of Tom Gold Dance. A 2016 National Choreographers Initiative participant, Gold has created original works for his eponymous company, as well as for Vassar College, the Bermuda Arts Festival, Oregon Ballet Theater, the New York City Ballet Choreographic Institute, St. Louis Ballet, and many other dance academies, companies, festivals, television, and special events, including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Bravo series Odd Mom Out starring Jill Kargman, and the New York City Fringe Festival for which he won the 2016 award for Overall Excellence for his work in the Joey Variations: A Play With Dance.
