The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp., along with Macy's, annouced "To Tommy, From Zooey," a capsule collection of dresses and accessories designed by actress, musician and style icon Zooey Deschanel and iconic American designer Tommy Hilfiger. The collection will be available beginning mid-April 2014 first at Macy's and on macys.com, and subsequently in select Tommy Hilfiger stores in North America, Europe, Mexico and Japan. It will also be available on tommy.com in those markets.
"Working with Tommy on this capsule collection has been really amazing," said Zooey Deschanel. "I am a fashion fanatic and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe. Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations-old school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons-and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece."
Together, the duo created a spirited collection in a signature Tommy palette of red, white and blue. The flattering silhouettes range from classic coat and shirtdresses to specialty peek-a-boo styles, with prints hidden inside the pleats. Crisp, mod-shapes are combined with nautical touches-creating a look Deschanel calls "Modical." Bright and upbeat, "To Tommy, From Zooey," captures the buoyant attitude of the sixties, the decade in which Hilfiger made his fashion debut and from which Deschanel borrows her doe-eyed look.
"Each piece is original and fun," said Tommy Hilfiger, who first met the actress through friends in Los Angeles. "The collection is the perfect fusion of Zooey's adventurous style and the classic, cool, American spirit at the heart of the Tommy Hilfiger brand."
All the dresses in the collection have the short hems first made famous and fashionable by iconic models of the era like Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton and favored by the actress herself. Color-blocking adds graphic impact to the line-up, made with a mix of classic materials, like pique and oxford cloth, modish prints, silks and linens. The summery feeling that breezes through the "To Tommy, From Zooey" collection reflects the optimism and youthful spirit at the heart of the iconic brand, celebrated for its eccentric authenticity and irreverent take on prep.
Zooey will appear in a dedicated advertising campaign in celebration of the collection. Photographed by Carter Smith, the campaign will include outdoor, print and digital placements. The collection will be celebrated with special events in New York, Los Angeles and Mexico.
"Macy's customers already love Tommy Hilfiger's classic American cool sensibility, and this fun collaboration will channel Zooey Deschanel's smart and playful style," said Martine Reardon, Macy's chief marketing officer. "The 'To Tommy, From Zooey' spring capsule collection will be a centerpiece of Macy's 'American Icon's' campaign and will give our customers fresh, fun and feminine fashion to take her into the cheerful mood of summer."
The "To Tommy, From Zooey" collection includes a total of 16 dresses that range in price from $98 to $199. A selection of 14 dresses from the capsule will be available in 200 Macy's stores starting April 14. The complete collection will launch on tommy.com and in Tommy Hilfiger anchor and specialty stores in North America, Europe, Mexico and Japan on April 21. A selection of jewelry and handbags designed by Zooey will be exclusively available at select Tommy Hilfiger anchor stores and on tommy.com.

About Zooey Deschanel
Emmy, Golden Globe and Grammy nominee, and Critics Choice Award winner Zooey Deschanel is an entertainer in every sense of the word, bringing the classical leading lady back to the modern audience with her old fashioned charm. Lauded as "timeless", "vintage" and "ethereal," Deschanel's stars on the big and small screen have cemented her place as one of the most beloved actresses of our time. Cinemaphiles have long known Zooey for her memorable performances in films like (500) Days of Summer, Almost Famous, and Elf and now television audiences have fallen in love with Zooey's Jess in Fox's tent pole highest rated comedy series, New Girl (for which she also serves as producer). Zooey's music has only added to her performance tapestry. Her latest album She & Him: Volume 3 debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 and was one of 2013's most critically acclaimed albums. She is co-creator and a frequent contributor to the website HelloGiggles. Zooey, who was named for the male character in J. D. Salinger's Franny and Zooey, spent much of her childhood on-location with her actress mother, Mary Jo, and her father Caleb, an Academy Award-nominated cinematographer. She credits her father with instilling in her a keen visual sense and great style.
