Tara Smith and B. Swibel, currently represented on Broadway as producers of Xanadu, announced they are bringing a new musical, To Die For, to the stage.

Though details about the project are yet to be disclosed, it will be an updated version of the internationally popular novel by acclaimed writer Joyce Maynard and the award-winning Columbia Pictures film of the same title, which also garnered star Nicole Kidman her first Golden Globe Award. The film also starred a young Jouquin Phoenix, Casey Affleck, Matt Dillon and was directed by Gus Van Sant. It was adapted for the screen by Academy Award nominee Buck Henry.

Author Joyce Maynard has been very involved with the project since its inception. Her novel was inspired by the real life Pamela Smart murder scandal.

Swibel says: "With To Die For, we hope to deliver upon the brilliance of the story and characters created in the novel and film with an original musical score. The message of To Die For is more timely and provocative than ever."
