Times Scare NYC is proud to present the world premiere of Ripper, by Jacob Marx Rice, a new horror play about Jack the Ripper from the perspective of an ambitious female reporter.
In London, 1888, a bold young woman desperate to make a name for herself starts tracking a string of gruesome murders. When she accidentally finds herself face to face with the killer, they begin an elaborate and deadly game of cat and mouse. Can she stop him and become famous in the process, or will he rip the city, and her, apart? Wickedly playful and deliciously terrifying, Ripper asks how far would you go for the story of the century?
"The game is death; the board, London's Whitechapel. Players are an intrepid young investigator after the perfect story, and a psychotic killer after the perfect crime," said director Joseph Robinson. "In this classically-staged telling of a classic horror tale, reality and myth live together onstage as versatile performers embody many roles. As the body count rises, everyone is ensnared into a sinister game. Who wins, who loses, and what are the costs?"
Performances are October 11th, 18th, and 25th at 8pm, October 9th, 16th, and 29th at 11pm, and October 17th and 24th at 11:30pm at the Elektra Theater at Times Scare NYC (669 8th Avenue, Between 42nd & 43rd Street). A special Halloween performance will be announced shortly.
