The Wild Root Company presented successful industry readings of the work in early 2013 to strong response from invited audiences. The readings, held at the Creative Center at Manhattan Theatre Club, featured Drama Desk nominee Claybourne Elder (New Group's ONE ARM; Broadway's BONNIE & CLYDE) and Sean Hudock (Titan Theatre's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, "Private Romeo") under the direction of Ross Evans.
Hailed as a "gripping and moving, powerful family drama" by the Connecticut Post, ROOM AT THE END OF THE HALL transports audiences to the late night shore of a weathered lake home on Cape Cod where estranged brothers Doug and Malky have returned for the first time in years to spread the ashes of their recently deceased caretaker. But tonight, a simple act of closure unearths the haunting remains of a troubled past and an unsettling force that must be reckoned with before daybreak. ROOM AT THE END OF THE HALL was named a semi-finalist at the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference and the Premiere Stages Festival.
