Set in modern Afghanistan and the Bay Area, The Kite Runner is the tale of two boys unlikely friendship and how one man's search for redemption is threatened by global politics and historical tragedy. Khaled Hosseini's award-winning novel was adapted for the stage by Matthew Spangler, professor of Performance and Communication Studies at San Jose State University (SJSU). It is directed by David Ira Goldstein, Artistic Director of Arizona Theater Company and director of San Jose Rep's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Written by Rachel Sheinkin, with music and lyrics by William Finn, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is the hilarious musical comedy that celebrates the mania of competition as the funniest, most lovable and sardonically nerdy contestants compete for the Spelling Bee title. This Broadway smash hit is directed by the Rep's Senior Artistic Advisor Timothy Near, who has earned numerous awards for her leadership and artistic guidance during her 22 seasons as Artistic Director at the Rep.
