A number of young stars--including Eddie Kaye Thomas, Eliza Dushku and America Ferrera--will headline Bert V. Royal's play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, beginning previews November 30th and opening December 15th off-Broadway at the Century Center for the Performing Arts (111 E. 15 St.) in New York.

Dog Sees God--which follows the travails of "CB", America's most hapless cartoon character, all grown up -- was one of the breakout hits of the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival, winning an Excellence Award for Best Overall Production. Produced by Dede Harris (The Pillowman, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), the piece will be directed by Trip Cullman (The Last Sunday in June, Swimming in the Shallows).

"In this 'unauthorized parody,' CB's beloved beagle has terminal rabies, and his world is inhabited by a comic strip parade of misfits: a missing pen pal, an abused pianist, a pyromaniac ex-girlfriend, two drunk cheerleaders, a homophobic quarterback, a burnt-out Buddhist and a drama-queen sister. Together, these factors all contribute -- Good grief! -- to this modern tale of teenage angst," according to press notes.

Joining the three stars will be Ari Graynor (Brooklyn Boy, the film Mystic River, "The Sopranos"), Logan Marshall Green ("The O.C.," The Distance from Here, Swimming in the Shallows), Keith Nobbs (the film Phone Booth, Fuddy Meers), and Michael Rady (the film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).

Thomas has appeared as Paul Finch in all four films in the American Pie series, to date, including the wildly popular 1999 original in which he played one of four teenage boys determined to lose their virginity by Prom Night. Dushku is a film and television star who has appeared in City by the Sea, Soul Survivors, Bring It On, This Boy's Life and other movies. Perhaps best-known for playing Faith on "Buffy the Vampire Slayers," she also starred in the series "Tru Calling." Ferrera had her breakout role in the indie hit Real Women Have Curves, and has also appeared in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Lords of Dogtown.

Dog Sees God has scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Jenny Mannis, sound design by Darron L. West and lighting design by Brian MacDevitt. Sorrell Tomlinson and David Carpenter are associate producers.
