The family fun continues this spring as TheatreworksUSA, the leading not-for-profit professional theatre for family audiences, presents the second-half of its 2006-07 Special Presentations Series at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street). A series of weekend performances featuring music, magic, puppets, stories and more, the Special Presentations are specifically created for young audiences ages 3 and up.

The remaining 2006-07 Special Presentations offerings include:

  • Alex, King of the Jesters
         Saturday, March 31 – 10:30 a.m.
"It's easy to imagine a court jester – the colorful trickster with bells jingling from his floppy hat. But have you ever seen one perform in real life? Combining daring stunts, mind-bending sight gags, dazzling visual spectacle, musical capers and physical feats with an array of vibrant colors, lavish costumes and audience interaction, Alex, King of the Jesters is a TheatreworksUSA audience favorite...and the PERFECT show for kids to see before April Fool's Day!," state press notes.
  • Birds & Butterflies: Stories & Songs with Chris & Frank
         Saturday, April 7 – 10:30 a.m.
"TheatreworksUSA veteran Christine Campbell performs Jamiacan stories and folk songs accompanied by acclaimed acoustic guitarist and Cherokee native Frank Fields.   This musical treat for young audiences features stories and songs from a variety of world cultures, all with plenty of audience participation."
  • Jim West's Aesop's Fables
         Saturday, April 14 – 10:30 a.m.
"With the help of Aesop himself (and his faithful dog, Moral), Jim West and his partners share the famous fables, including 'The Lion and the Mouse,' 'The Tortoise and the Hare' and 'The Fox and the Grapes.' This large-scale puppet production also features the music of Scarlatti, Beethoven and Chopin."
  • Jim West's Dinosaurs!
         Sunday, April 15 – 10:30 a.m.
;"Fossil the Dinosaur Detective mixes fun and facts in this colossal show inspired by everyone's favorite prehistoric creatures. Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Stravinsky and Prokofiev provide the rich musical score to Jim West's prehistoric stage spectacle."
  • Casey Carle's BubbleMania
         Saturday, April 21 – 10:30 a.m.
"An extremely unique program of high-energy entertainment and artistic achievement, BubbleMania is loaded with visual comedy, quick wit, and the untamed, unbelievable qualities and beauty of bubbles! Casey's creations grow from intricate and imaginative bubble art forms to "trapping" people inside bubbles that stretch up to six feet wide and 25 feet long."
  • Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck
         Sunday April 22 – 10:30 a.m.
"Regularly featured on PBS Kids and Noggin, NAPPA Gold Award winners Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck brings families together to share a musical experience, and exposes kids to a variety of musical styles and genres. The band's original song sets provide musical snapshots of many moments in children's lives – like learning to ride a bike, building a sandcastle, taking a bubble bath and more."
