Theatre Stars Score in NY, D.C. and Boston Film Awards

United 93 - featuring Broadway stars Cheyenne Jackson and Chip Zien among its cast - has been chosen as Best Film by both the New York Film Critics Circle and the Washington Area Film Critics.

In addition, Paul Greengrass' film - which is set upon the tragic 9/11 flight of the title - received Best Ensemble Cast by the Boston Film Critics Society.

Theatre veteran Helen Mirren, who plays the title role in The Queen, was named Best Actress by the NYFCC, WAFC and BSFC Awards.  Jennifer Hudson, who plays Effie in the Dreamgirls film, also won Best Supporting Actress from the NYFCC and WAFC. 

Peter Morgan, who wrote the play Frost/Nixon, won the NYFCC Award for Best Screenplay for The Queen.

The Departed was chosen as Best Picture by the BSFC; its director, Martin Scorcese, was awarded as Best Director by all three societies.
