London's Theatre-Rites celebrates self discovery and remembering what it felt like to be a child in MOJO, a physical theater performance of puppetry, live music, dance and illusion that will run at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street, from October 26 through November 4.
From "The company that has put play back into the play and produced some of our most outstanding theatre of the past decade" (The Guardian), Theatre-Rites (Mischief, New Vic 2011) takes audiences on a topsy-turvy trip full of visual transformations and revelations in this freewheeling production of physical theater. Bursting with color, energy, movement and music, MOJO features dancers, puppeteers and live musicians, including world jazz percussionist Adriano Adewale and folk/blues/jazz singer, trumpeter and guitarist Leo Altarelli.
MOJO is directed by Sue Buckmaster with original choreography by Arthur Pita and stage revival by Claire Cunningham. Music composition is by Adriano Adewale and Leo Altarelli, set and lighting design is by Peter Mumford, puppetry design is by Michael Fowkes, music design is by Keith Clouston, and costume design is by Suzy Peters. MOJO is a co-production between Theatre-Rites, the Barbican (London) and the Salzburg Festival.
The MOJO cast features Adriano Adewale, Leo Altarelli, Rachel Donovan, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Mohsen Nouri, Simon Palmer, Tanya Richam-Odoi and Robin Beer.
MOJO is recommended for everyone 5 and older.
