By: Tyler Peterson Feb. 19, 2014
Theatre Now New York will host the first meeting of 2014 of the RAW Reading series on Sunday, March 9, 2014. The reading will begin at 3:00 pm in the Mitchell Room on the third floor of 520 Eighth Avenue.
The reading in March will be of "Topeka is Turning or The Ryan Seacrest Play" by Stephen Bishop Seely. This new comedy is the story of two friends who get into quite a predicament after an "American Idol" audition that goes terribly wrong in Topeka, Kansas. "Topeka is Turning or The Ryan Seacrest Play" is about enduring friendships, challenging circumstances, and a comedic repartee back and forth. The question remains at the end: does Ryan Seacrest survive this ride from hell?

It is a chance for both Theatre Now and the audience to hear new works presented in a spontaneous and unplanned way. Participation by the audience is an integral part of the process, which serves as an important step in the evolution of new plays or musicals. The raw readings also allow Theatre Now to assess whether or not they wish to move forward in the development of a particular play or musical.
