Theatre Biz Vets Gabler and Davidov Create Official Times Square 'I LOUNGE NY' T-Shirts

In the spirit of turning Times Square into New York City's latest (and greatest) backyard, the Times Square Alliance is selling a limited edition "I ‘Lounge' New York" t-shirt at the Times Square Information Center (on 7th Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets).

The "I ‘Lounge' NY" logo commemorates the new pedestrian plaza running along Broadway between 42nd and 47th Streets in the recently reconfigured Times Square. The pedestrian plaza temporarily features lounge chairs, provided by the Times Square Alliance, allowing New Yorkers and visitors alike to lounge in the heart of the Crossroads of the World.

Conceived by theater industry veterans Jolie Gabler and Karen Davidov (2 City Girls Productions) and designed by Kelly Lettieri, a design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the t-shirt features an updated version of the iconic "I ‘Heart' NY" logo, with a lawn-chair replacing the ‘heart.' 

"While the kitschy charm of the current Broadway lounge chairs can't be denied, they are strictly temporary," said Times Square Alliance President, "so these T-shirts are a great way to commemorate 2009: The Summer of Lounge, especially since, when it comes to this particular type of street furniture, it's chair today, gone tomorrow."
