Theater for the New City to Stage World Premiere of L'CHAYIM, 8/21-25

Theater for the New City and Crystal Field, Artistic Director are pleased to announce the world premiere production of Gaspare DiBlasi's "L'Chayim", directed by Jesse Marchese (Assistant to the Artistic Director of Off-Broadway's award-winning Mint Theater Company) as part of their 2013 Dream Up Festival. Both artists are returning to both TNC and the Dream Up Festival after last year's sold-out production of DiBlasi's "50 Things I Love About Frank". L'Chayim will play a limited engagement at Theater for the New City, 155 1st Avenue (Between 9th and 10th Streets). New York, New York, 10003. Performances begin Wednesday, August 21 and continue through Sunday, August 25.

The play is described as such: When struggling actor-waiter Benjamin returns to his family home in Yonkers to visit his recently widowed mother, he finds that she is anything but alone. What's worse, the man she's suddenly engaged to is closer in age to Benjamin than herself! Will he be able to overcome his suspicions about mom's new beau and raise a glass to toast "L'Chayim"?

The production stars Zal Owen (Fiddler on the Roof with Harvey Fierstein, Nat'l Tour) as Benjamin, Bonnie Black (Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound with Karen Ziemba, The Old Globe) as Ruth and Max Arnaud (Exodus Code, The Flea) as Isaac. All three actors are performing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association. AEA Approved Showcase.

The production features scenic and costume design by the director, lighting design by David Pentz and sound design by Janie Bullard. The stage manager is Danielle McKinney.

L'Chayim plays the following schedule:
Wednesday, August 21 at 6:30pm
Thursday, August 22 at 6:30pm
Friday, August 23 at 9:00pm
Saturday, August 24 at 8:00pm
Sunday, August 25 at 5:00pm
