On Monday, August 4th the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony-winner Karen Olivo. Olivo made headlines in 2013 when she announced on her blog that she would be taking a step back from acting and leaving New York City in order to move to Madison, Wisconsin to pursue other interests and passions.
On the episode, she discusses what led to this decision, what she is doing now, and her decision to return to the New York stage this past June in the Encores production of Jonathan Larson's "Tick Tick Boom" at New York City Center.
Olivo also recounts highlights from her stage career including making her Broadway debut in "Rent"--a role she won from an open call--, "In The Heights" and her Tony winning turn as Anita in the 2009 Arthur Laurents helmed production of "West Side Story."
