 As part of the citywide first annual World Science Festival ( www.worldsciencefestival.com ), a four-day celebration of science with more than 40 unique events showcasing an extraordinary array of films, lectures, family events and performances, artistic directors, authors and performers will come together with scientists at two high profile events. 
 
Illuminating Genius: Unlocking Creativity (Thursday, May 29, 8PM, Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, NYU, 566 LaGuardia Pl (at Washington Square South) admission $30 adults $12 students: Blending live performances, personal accounts of the creative process, and state-of-the-art brain imaging, this program illuminates questions about whether creativity is innate or learned and whether we can enhance our ability - and that of our children - to be creative. Spring Awakening's Tony Award winning choreographer and co-founder of the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company Bill T. Jones and actor Michael York will join neuroscientists V.S. Ramachandran, Nancy Andreasen, and David Eagleman to explore cutting edge research into the brain's creative impulses.
 
Toil and Trouble…Stories of Experiments Gone Wrong (Thursday, May 29, 7:30 PM, The Moth Symphony Place, 2537 Broadway (95th and Broadway), admission $35: Throwing a uniquely personal spotlight on their working lives, renowned scientists take the stage to tell stories about heroic failures, miscalculations and experiments gone wrong. This evening of live stories is presented in partnership with New York's extraordinary storytelling collective The Moth.  Journalist and author Lucy Hawking, daughter of physicist Stephen Hawking, will participate.
 
The World Science Festival brings together over a dozen Nobel Laureates, leading researchers, top-level technologists, dedicated educators, and high-level policy makers with creative artists, filmmakers, and performers to create more than 40 unique events shining a spotlight on science and exploring the many ways in which scientific discovery and innovation are shaping modern life.  The World Science Festival springs from the vision of its co-founders, physicist and host of NOVA's The Elegant Universe Brian Greene and four-time National News Emmy Award winning journalist and producer Tracy Day.  The Festival will take place from May 29 - June 1, 2008 at 22 venues throughout New York City.
