Performances of THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING begin tonight, Tuesday, March 6. Academy Award and Tony Award winner Vanessa Redgrave returns to Broadway in Joan Didion's stunning new play, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, directed by Academy Award nominee David Hare. THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, based on Didion's memoir, opens on Broadway on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street). This is a limited engagement for 24 weeks only.

In THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, Vanessa Redgrave relives the unforgettable night in Joan Didion's life when, even as her only child lay in a coma, her husband of 40 years, writer John Gregory Dunne, died suddenly of a massive coronary as they sat down to dinner in their New York apartment. Capturing the compassion, humor, and bewilderment of a fiercely intelligent woman whose world lurches suddenly from the ordinary to the unimaginable, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING is a love letter to a child and a tribute to an extraordinary, unconventional marriage told with raw candor and a storyteller's gift for the absurd.

THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING was 2005's publishing phenomenon – winner of the National Book Award, a Pulitzer finalist, 30 weeks on The New York Times hardcover bestseller list and the subject of worldwide media attention, including a New York Times Magazine cover story and worldwide critical acclaim. The paperback edition of The Year of Magical Thinking was released on Thursday, February 13th, 2007.

The show is produced by Scott Rudin, Roger Berlind, Daryl Roth, Debra Black and The Shubert Organization. The show is executive produced by Stuart Thompson and John Barlow.

The design team for THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING includes Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (Scenic Design), Oscar winner Ann Roth (Costume Design) and Jean Kalman (Lighting Design).
