Broadway Bound Theatre Festival has proudly partnered with the Psychology department at Misericordia University to present The Voices Project: Mental Health, a charity staged reading benefiting the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

To end the stigma of and promote acceptance, individuals and family members share their honest experiences of living life with mental health conditions in this bold new work, the result of several years of research and interviews conducted by students and members of the Psychology Department at Pennsylvania-based Misericordia University.

There are two free matinee performances of the show, August 15th & 16th at 12 PM. The performance on the 16th will be followed by an audience talkback with the festival director, creative team & editor of the project Alicia Nordstrom, Ph.D. (Professor of Psychology at Misericordia University). Donations will be accepted at the door. Proceeds go to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

About Broadway Bound Theatre Festival:

Come out and play, New York! Affordable theatre is alive, well and living in NYC's eclectic and electric East Village. An artistic oasis in Fringe's absence, Broadway Bound Theatre Festival takes a fresh approach to the theatre festival model as it mentors the brightest playwrights on successful self-production -- resulting in a fully curated theatrical experience for theatre-lovers.

Productions run the gamut; delving deep LGBTQA relationships, living with cancer, surviving a hate crime and a dysfunctional past, becoming a parent, PTSD and suicide, a modern twist on a fairy tale, dealing with closeted skeletons and ghosts from the past, illegal immigration, Texas high school football, the Cuban fight for freedom and everything in between.

Runs: July 30 to Aug. 20. 2017 (multiple performances daily), At: Theatre at the 14th St. Y, 344 E 14th St, New York, NY 10003
