Maged studied at the Boston Conservatory and then attended the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York. He has appeared in several independent films including festival award winner, "Bobby G. Can't Swim" and has performed stand-up comedy throughout the Tri-state area. Maged quickly found his niche in songwriting, which he had explored off and on since childhood. After his father passed away unexpectedly, he began writing the songs that would make up his first record, "In My Time", a pop/rock album with a raw, garage band feel. One of the songs recorded for the album, "Falling Down", would appear multiple times on MTV's long running show "Think Again Sex Myths Revealed".
In 2011, Maged began a labor of love, writing the music and lyrics to his follow up album, Diamonds & Demons. Musically inspired by the sounds of the current Indie scene as well as Maged's own musical influences such as Pearl Jam, Green Day, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello and a plethora of classic rock, the songs flow with great energy and diversity. Lyrically the songs are purposeful; an intense exploration of today's modern day society and Maged's own struggles and questions within it, creating a conceptual feel that builds throughout the album. The vocals are delivered with urgency and edge, breathing story and life into every song.
The Strangers, a group of accomplished and ultra-talented musicians, are quickly becoming an integral part of the live music scene in New York City. They consist of Joan Chew on Bass Guitar/Vocals, Ari Friedman on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Shawn Crowder on Drums and Maged on Lead Vocals/Songwriter. They are playing Maged's new music as well as songs from his first album. The new music includes the first single to be released off the album entitled, "Look At Me", which boasts a sarcastic and unapologetic view of modern day elitism in today's society.
Paul Maged has taken the common definition of a Singer-Songwriter and blown it away, creating a rock band sound in the form of an Alternative Rock Singer-Songwriter.
