The Salacious Uncle Baldrick will open on August 13th at the Players Theatre (115 MacDougal St.) as part of the New York International Fringe Festival; it will run through August 20th.

Presented by The Salacious Company and written by Sean Kent and Kenan Minkoff, the show is irreverent and ribald (as its title might indicate).
"South Park meets Moliere in this mad-capped corruption of classical theater. Zany plots, arranged marriage, and implausible disguises mix with Indian princesses, wandering pirates and magic potions to update 17th Century comedy with modern bad taste," state production notes. "Once every 10 to 15 years a show breaks so many rules and pushes so many envelopes it creates a new set of rules for the next generation to obliterate," it elaborates.

In the show, the comely Lucy requests that her good-hearted if idiotic uncle of the title thwart her upcoming marriage to the wealthy and loathsome Jaquass, which was arranged by her uncle Ephraim after her father's death resulted in the fall of the family's fortunes. Baldrick discovers that Lucy has a romantic penchant for pirates, and uses it to his advantage to bring her together with Luigi, "a loyal kitchen boy and ridiculous Italian stereotype."

The show's playing schedule is August 13th at 9:45 PM, Aug. 14th at 5:15 PM, Aug. 16th at 6:30 PM, Aug. 18th at 6:30 PM and Aug. 20th at 2 PM. For tickets to The Salacious Uncle Baldrick, call 212-279-4488. For more information, visit www.FringeNYC.org or www.salaciouscompany.com.
