Saatchi Gallery
The Saatchi Gallery was founded in 1985 by Charles Saatchi to provide a platform to bring contemporary art to as wide an audience as possible and make it accessible. Over the last three years the Saatchi Gallery has hosted 10 out of the top fifteen most visited exhibitions in London, according to The Art Newspaper's survey of international museum attendance, and is also ranked amongst the world's top three most liked museums on Facebook and Twitter by Museum Analytics. Entry to all exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery is free.
The Prize is part of the Saatchi Gallery's education programme which is committed to introducing contemporary art to younger audiences. More than 10,000 school groups have visited the Saatchi Gallery since it opened in Chelsea in October 2008.
Deutsche Bank & Born to Be
Deutsche Bank is a leading global investment bank with a presence in over 70 countries globally. A core element of the bank's culture is our commitment to making a positive
difference in the communities we operate in. We approach corporate citizenship with the same passion that we work to achieve the best on behalf of our clients.
The Saatchi / Deutsche Bank Art Prize is an opportunity to link our commitment to offering young people opportunities to discover what they are born to be with our long term support of contemporary art. 16,000 schools entered the Saatchi Gallery / Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools this year. Through Born to Be, Deutsche Bank's UK youth engagement programme, we have been able to offer extra support to schools in disadvantaged areas to encourage them to access the Prize, nurturing their creativity and self-belief. It is one of many projects that we support that targets 11-18 year olds with education-led projects that aim to increase achievement, develop employability skills and raise aspirations.
This Prize is an excellent example of how the arts can support education and vital life skills, providing young people with the creativity and confidence they need to become who they were born to be.
