This fall at the Rubin Museum of Art, experts from a variety of fields will tackle the difficult concept of wisdom and why it still matters in our era of information overload. Featuring on-stage conversations, as well as immersive experiences and film screenings, "The Wisdom Matrix" will bring together eclectic personalities including actor Mia Farrow, musician Rosanne Cash, humorist and ethics columnist RAndy Cohen, actor Steve Buscemi, author and NPR hostKrista Tippett, Zen poet Norman Fisher, comedienne Ilana Glazer, and many more, to explore how the head, heart, and gut each play a role in wise decision-making. The four month series will also invite visitors to personally reflect on their own definitions of wisdom through experiences like Mirror Meditation.
"True wisdom is very distinct from simple information or knowledge, so our objective this fall is to get wiser about what wisdom really is" said Tim McHenry, Director of Programs and Engagement at the Rubin, who curated the series. "As we bring together many of the world's leading thinkers on the subject, the real intrigue will come when visitors encounter their own interpretations of wisdom, reflect on the things they don't yet know, and discover how they can use reasoning, compassion, and instinct when they reach crucial turning points in their own lives."
