The ReGroup Theatre Company is now presenting two powerful plays Off-Broadway by playwright John Howard Lawson, Success Story and Loud Speaker, as part of their "Reclaiming Names: The John Howard Lawson Revival" series. Both shows are at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Lafayette Street in Manhattan and are running from March 5th through March 24th. Neither of these plays has been produced in New York City in decades.

Originally presented in 1932, Lawson's "lost" play Success Story was the 3rd play produced by The Group Theatre under the direction of Lee Strasberg and featuring the A-List cast of Luther & Stella Adler, Franchot Tone, Morris Carnovsky, etc. ReGroup Theatre Company Founder & Artistic Director Allie Mulholland, who has been planning these productions for a few years now, brings the show back to the New York stage with acclaimed actors Leah Wagner, James Aronson, Brandon Ruckdashel, Pooya Mohseni, Luke Guldan, Robert Benes, Robert McKeon, Tami McCarthy and Carly J. Bauer, with Mulholland himself playing the lead role of "Sol" and Brian Stites directing, with Laura Sisskin-Fernandez assisting.

Success Story is the tale of Sol Ginsberg, a young Jewish upstart at a Madison Ave advertising firm in 1928. A former idealist radical, he now sees that the only way to achieve the American Dream is through money. As opportunities present themselves, he begins compromising his spirit in order to get ahead, even risking losing his childhood sweetheart and his own identity.

Loud Speaker, John Howard Lawson's farce taking aim at the press, politics and the theatre itself, is being directed by Nic Davies and will run in repertoire with Success Story, with actors Matt Giroveanu, Hallie Goodman, Maurya Scanlon, Ave M. Lindon, Tim Gilliss, Daniel Hainsworth, Claudia L. Brown, Shawn Verrier, Goran Ivanovski, John Hutchinson, Jeska Pike, and Wilson Carpenter.

Joseph Croghan is doing the set designer for Success Story, with Daniel Winters handling the lighting design for both shows. The ReGroup Theatre Company was created in 2010 with the mission to produce "great plays" as defined by the original Group Theatre as plays which are "propaganda for a better life."
