The British play The Race will have its New York premiere as part of the Brits Off Broadway festival. The play will run at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison) beginning May 16th; opening night is set for May 18th and it will run through June 4th.

Created and performed by the New Theatre Company Gecko, The Race was developed at The National Theatre Studio and commissioned by the Battersea Arts Centre. "One man is on a collision course with his future, sprinting toward the most important moment of his life. But will he be ready? How can a man prepare to meet his first child?...With a whirl of masterful movement, vivid color and powerful music, images appear like magic, people fly, and the routine of one man's life transforms into something beautiful," state press notes.

Directed by Amit Lahav and Al Nedjari, the play will feature Lahav, Nedjari, James Flynn, Katherine Markee and Natalie Joy Ayton.

The performance schedule is Tuesday - Saturday at 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM. Single tickets are $45 ($21.50 for 59E59 members) and are available by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or online at www.ticketcentral.com. For more information, visit www.britsoffbroadway.com.
