The New York Pops Featured In The Who's TOMMY At Forest Hills Stadium, 6/17

The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke return for their fourth season at Forest Hills Stadium-the historic sporting and entertainment venue located in the Queens, New York neighborhood of Forest Hills-for a one night only performance of The Who's 'TOMMY' on Sunday, June 17 at 8:00 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.) Presented by Q104.3 and Madison House Presents, the concert features Roger Daltrey, joined by a band of seasoned Who players, including guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, guitarist Frank Simes, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button, and drummer Scott Devours.

Considered one of the seminal albums of the rock canon, The Who's 'TOMMY' includes classics such as Pinball Wizard," "See Me, Feel Me," and more, and was last played by The Who for the first time in 28 years at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of a benefit concert for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The performance also marks Roger Daltrey's return to the Forest Hills stage, after his summer 1971 appearance when The Who performed as part of a sold-out, two-night stand.

The New York Pops' Kids in the Stadium program, supported in part by concert presenters Q104.3 and Madison House Presents will offer more than 1,000 Queens children and their families an opportunity to attend and learn about live music for free for a fourth consecutive year. The New York Pops' appearance is generously supported by Morgan Stanley, Blue Marble Cocktails, American Airlines, and Wigdor LLP, with additional support from the City of New York and the New York City Council.

Steven Reineke is the Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Principal Pops Conductor of the Houston Symphony and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been on the podium with the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include Seattle, Edmonton and Pittsburgh. As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and the composer of symphonic and wind ensemble compositions, Mr. Reineke's work has been performed worldwide.

Roger Daltrey has appeared on stage away from The Who on many occasions. His 1994 solo concert at New York's Carnegie Hall with The Juilliard Orchestra was the fastest selling event in the venue's history. The following year he appeared on stage as The Tin Man in a production of "The Wizard Of Oz" at The Lincoln Center, and in 1998 he starred as Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" at Madison Square Garden. He has also performed with his friends The Chieftains, the traditional Irish band, and toured the world with the British Rock Symphony interpreting a variety of rock classics.

Daltrey's film career began, appropriately enough, with the title role in Ken Russell's kaleidoscopic 1975 adaptation of The Who's rock opera "Tommy." He has since appeared in some 30 films, portraying composer Franz Liszt (as well as writing lyrics and performing several songs) in Russell's wild classical-music fantasia "Lisztomania," the lead in the gritty crime drama "McVicar" (for which he also furnished the hit soundtrack), and roles in "The Legacy," "Vampirella," "Johnny Was" and many more. His television work includes appearances on "CSI," "That '70s Show" and "Rude Awakening."

The singer's solo discography includes the acclaimed discs Daltrey, Ride a Rock Horse, One of the Boys and Under a Raging Moon, and such hit singles as "I'm Free," "Giving It All Away," "Without Your Love," "Free Me" and "After the Fire." His solo work has been compiled into two anthologies, Martyrs and Madmen (1997) and Moonlighting (2005).

Later in 2018, Daltrey's autobiography and his first solo album in 26 years will be released. In the meantime, though, Roger Daltrey is ready to use his voice to do the thing he was born to do - bring rock fans to their feet.
