The New York Conservatory For Dramatic Arts Announces Joan See Memorial Scholarship Winners

The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA) today announced winners of its first annual Joan See Memorial Scholarship. Honoring The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts' founder, Joan See, the scholarship recognizes students who demonstrated academic excellence, passion and commitment to the dramatic arts industry, and financial need.

The Joan See Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to three students and will cover the full two-year tuition cost for their respective Associates degrees. In addition to the Joan See Memorial Scholarship, each year NYCDA awards more than $2,000,000 in institutional scholarships and grants based on financial need and/or demonstration of extraordinary talent.

This year's Joan See Memorial Scholarship winners are:

· Jada Liggons, a 17 year-old senior attending Arts Academy at Rush High School in Philadelphia, PA. She is accepted into NYCDA's Film and TV Performance Program starting in Fall 2018. Jada has performed in a short film for director Kevin Sheaff as well as high school productions of "Annie" and "The Whiz."

· Miah Whitmore, a 17 year-old attending Peters Township High School in McMurray, PA. She is accepted into NYCDA's Musical Theater Program starting in Fall 2018. Miah has performed in local productions of "High School The Musical," "Shrek The Musical," "Hairspray," and "Les Miserables."

· Jose Gonzalez, a 17 year-old from attending Franklin High School in Franklin TN. He is accepted into NYCDA's Musical Theater Program starting in Fall 2018. Jose's first musical performance was in a local production of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat."

"The Joan See Memorial Scholarship honors our founder's vision to offer students demonstrating exceptional talent the opportunity to fulfill their dramatic arts aspirations through our two-year accredited professional degree programs. Throughout our nearly forty-year history, we have awarded over 23 million dollars in scholarships, and continue this legacy today," said Richard Omar, president and artistic director at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. "We are thrilled to award our first Joan See Memorial Scholarships to Jada, Jose and Miah - three extraordinary students we are very pleased to welcome into NYCDA's acting community, and proud to help them turn their dreams into action."
