Australian acrobatic ensemble Gravity & Other Myths makes its New York Premiere at The New Victory Theater from February 9 - 24, 2019 with A Simple Space, a stripped-down circus The Guardian calls, "A total triumph. A riveting show of the most incredible physical feats."

Favorites of the Spoleto Festival (2018, 2014) and the international festival circuit, Gravity & Other Myths will enthrall audiences in the fun and frenetic A Simple Space. Challenging each other in one astounding act after another, the company clears the stage to escalate childhood games-jumping rope, holding a handstand or eluding the floor-into artful acrobatics. With limited onstage seating, New Yorkers can feel the heat, see the sweat and hear every breath of this talented, tight-knit troupe mere inches away.

Gravity & Other Myths debuted A Simple Space at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and went on to perform the show more than 500 times across 24 countries. An official artist for the 2019 International Performing Arts for Youth (IPAY) showcase, Gravity & Other Myths is the two-time recipient of Australian Dance Award's Outstanding Achievement prize and winner of the Adelaide Fringe Award for Best Circus and a Green Room Award for Outstanding Circus.

Gravity & Other Myths was formed in 2009 by lifelong friends and graduates of the Cirkidz Circus School at the South Australian Circus Centre. Now, the troupe has tripled in size and grown to become an internationally renowned physical theater company. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary circus, Gravity & Other Myths has rocketed to stellar acclaim with a series of disarmingly accomplished ensemble works with a focus on human connection and acrobatic virtuosity. The company's second show, Backbone, has toured internationally and already been nominated for multiple awards; their latest show, Out of Chaos, is scheduled to premiere at the Adelaide Festival in 2019.

A Simple Space is co-directed by Gravity & Other Myths co-founders Lachlan Binns, Jascha Boyce, Jacob Randell, Martin Schreiber, Triton Tunis-Mitchell, and Elliot Zoerner. The show features the on-stage talents of acrobats Benton Adams-Walker, Rachael Boyd, Lachlan Harper, Jackson Manson, Ashleigh Pearce, Jacob Randell and Joshua Strachan. Elliot Zoerner is also the live percussionist and composer of this production.
