The Navigators are pleased to announce their Fourth Annual Lift-Off New Play Series at the Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, January 25-27th at 8pm, presented in association with the Long Island City Artists. Tickets are $15, available at www.navigatorstheater.com.

The Lift-Off Festival is The Navigators yearly celebration of short sci-fi plays featuring strong female characters and feminist-inspired story lines. Each year, the company chooses 12-18 short plays and one-acts to produce over one exciting weekend! This year, we've chosen 13 spectacular new sci-fi plays to share and are collaborating with a fantastic grouping of new actors and directors.

This year's format is a little different. Each of our 13 new sci-fi plays have been assigned a block (A, B, or C). Each block will be performed in conjunction with one other on performance night. You'll have two chances to see each block of plays.

The Navigators was founded in 2014, when three unique theater artists, Bella Poynton (playwright), Ariel Francoeur (director), and Melina Neves (actress/dramaturg) came together during their studies at The University of Iowa. Their mission is to produce Science Fiction Theater with a clear feminist perspective. The Navigators are dedicated to elevating female driven stories in a genre dominated by men. In their productions, they empower women playwrights, producers, directors, and actors. The company seeks to engage new audiences, realize new and daring realities, and expand the boundaries of what theatre can achieve by fully exploring sci-fi on stage.

LIC-A is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) arts advocacy organization with a mission to increase the development and visibility of professional and emerging artists in Long Island City, New York. We are based out of The Plaxall Gallery, a 12,000 square foot fine art community center in LIC.
