The Muny Announces 2014 Summer Season; BILLY ELLIOT, PORGY & BESS, GREASE & More Included!

The Muny just announced the 2014 summer season, its 96th sensational summer in Forest Park. The exciting line-up includes 4 Muny premieres. The seven shows are: The Addams Family; Billy Elliott the Musical; Grease; Hello, Dolly!; The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess; Seussical the Musical and Tarzan. Show order and performance dates will be announced later. Season ticket holders will receive their renewal notices the first week of December. New season tickets will be available beginning Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Muny box office in Forest Park, with single tickets going on sale Saturday, May 31, 2014.

Making its US regional and Muny premiere, The Addams Family puts Charles Addam's classic and beloved characters in a hilarious Broadway musical that has been thrilling audiences worldwide. See what Bloomberg News called "uproarious!" The Addams Family features a book by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and music by Andrew Lippa. Come meet Gomez, Morticia, Lurch and the entire hilariously odd Addams Family!

Featuring the music of Elton John, Billy Elliott the Musical makes its Muny and US regional premiere. One of the most acclaimed musicals of the last decade, it is the winner of ten Tony and ten Drama Desk awards, as well as four Olivier Awards in London where it has been since 2005. This international phenomenon continues to touch audiences with the inspirational story of the motherless Billy, who accidently discovers his extraordinary ability to dance, while his father and brother, on strike from the local mine, struggle with how to help. This award-winning musical is based on the 2000 film, Billy Elliott.

One of The Muny's most popular shows ever, Grease returns for 9 performances, our first Muny production since 2007. Grease has defined 2 generations of Muny theatregoers. Mrs. Dolly Levi makes her grand Muny return in Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly!, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary since its Broadway opening. This award-winning musical features an irresistible story and unforgettable score including such hits as "Before the Parade Passes By," "It Only Takes a Moment," "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," and "Hello, Dolly!" The show was last produced at The Muny in 2007.

Winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess is hitting the road with award-winning members of the Broadway cast in this stunning and stirring new staging. Making its Muny and St. Louis professional premiere, Seussical the Musical brings fantasy to life on the Muny stage. Based on the classic children's books of Dr. Seuss, this delightful show tells the story of Horton the Elephant and his quest to protect the people of Who-ville. Featuring the music of the award-winning composing team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, (Ragtime, Rocky the Musical), Suessical the Musical tells the timeless story of being true to your word...not living in fear...and the power of believing in yourself. Based on the Oscar-winning Disney film and featuring the music of Phil Collins, Tarzan tells the story of a young boy who is orphaned by a shipwreck on the shores of West Africa, where he is raised by apes. As Tarzan grows, he learns that how we define our family is how we live. Since its 2006 Broadway premiere, this award-winning musical has been entertaining audiences around the globe. The score includes the Oscar-winning classic, "You'll Be in My Heart." Tarzan is a Muny premiere and promises great fun, fantasy and melody for the whole family.
