The Lights of the Piazza Shine in Joe's Pub Show, Feb. 6

Cast members of the Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza will be working on their day off when they appear at Joe's Pub on Monday, February 6th at 7 pm in a one night-only cabaret performance titled The Lights of the Piazza.

Members of the critically acclaimed cast, including Aaron Lazar (who plays Fabrizio), Sarah Uriarte Berry (Franca), Patti Cohenour (Signora Naccarelli), Glenn Seven Allen (swing), Jennifer Hughes (Clara understudy), Joe Siravo (Priest), Laura Griffith (Franca understudy), Katie Clarke (Clara), Catherine LaValle (swing) and David Bonanno (Giuseppi understudy), will star in the show which will feature performances of new works, old favorites, Italian arias and a few surprises, with Michael Berry as special guest. Sam Davis is the musical director.

Lazar's other Broadway credits include The Phantom of the Opera and Oklahoma!. Uriarte Berry's credits include the Broadway productions Taboo, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables and City Center Encores!'s The Boys From Syracuse and Tenderloin. Cohenour has starred on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Sound of Music and Big River. Allen appeared in The Light in the Piazza in its previous productions at Seattle's Intiman and Chicago's Goodman Theatres. His NY credits include Mrs. Bromley off-Broadway.

Hughes has appeared on Broadway in Dracula and on national tour in Joseph and the Amazing Techinicolor Dreamcoat, Cats and Grease!. Siravo's credits include Conversations With My Father and The Boys From Syracuse on Broadway and Mad Forest, Dark Rapture, Gemini and My Night With Reg off-Broadway. Griffith has appeared on Broadway in Sweet Smell of Success and Oklahoma! and in regional productions of A Little Night Music and The Rocky Horror Show. Clarke, who is a recent graduate of Sam Houston State University, made her New York and Broadway debuts last month as Clara in The Light in the Piazza. LaValle appeared on Broadway in The Scarlet Pimpernel and in regional productions of My Fair Lady and Master Class. Bonnano's credits include the Chicago productions of Ragtime (as Houdini), Good Person of Setzuan at the Goodman Theatre and Billis in South Pacific (Jefferson Award nomination).

Special guest Berry most recently appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables. Musical director Davis performed in the LCT productions of Belle Epoque and A Man of No Importance and on Broadway in Follies and Cabaret, which he also conducted.

The Light in the Piazza's recent extension through July 2nd places it as Lincoln Center's longest-running musical to play out its run at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. With a run of over a year (it opened on April 18th, 2005) The Light in the Piazza will top the previous record set by the 1987 revival of Anything Goes, starring Patti LuPone. Previously, the show was extended through January 1st and then through March 26th. Cohenour covers Clark as Margaret on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning on February 28th.

With a book by Craig Lucas (Reckless, Prelude to a Kiss), music and lyrics by Adam Guettel (Floyd Collins) and direction by Bartlett Sher, The Light in the Piazza won six 2005 Tony Awards--Best Score, Best Actress (for Victoria Clark), Best Orchestrations and three design awards (the show features costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Christopher Akerlind and sets by Michael Yeargan). The musical, based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer, is set in the summer of 1953 and tells the story of Margaret and Clara, a mother and daughter traveling through Italy--Clara's romance with a handsome, high-spirited Florentine, and Margaret's determined efforts to keep the two apart.
