The Open Book has announced the return of its critically acclaimed production of The Last Christmas of Ebenezer Scrooge by writer/novelist Marvin Kaye.  Performances run Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. beginning Friday, December 8th and running through Saturday December 23rd at the 78th Street Theatre Lab (236 West 78th Street, between West End and Amsterdam ).

"Picking up where Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol left off, Marvin Kaye's The Last Christmas of Ebenezer Scrooge begins on Christmas morning, when Scrooge awakens from his life-altering epiphany.  Adapted from his book of the same title, this sequel depicts a kindlier Scrooge struggling to right the unresolved wrong hidden within Dickens' story.  Taking care to recapture the tone of Dickens' beloved classic, Kaye's intriguing adaptation explores in depth the issue of anti-Semitism briefly touched upon in the original, evoking the spirit of the season and the period in which it takes place," state press materials.

Marvin Kaye is the author of 15 novels, six nonfiction books, several plays and play adaptations, as well as an editor of over 40 fantasy, mystery and theater anthologies.  Co-founder and artistic director of The Open Book, Kaye currently resides in New York where he is Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing at NYU and the head of the tutoring staff of Mercy College's Manhattan campus.

Founded in 1975, The Open Book is New York's oldest professional readers theatre company whose mission is to present the best of all worlds of literature-prose, poetry, drama and nonfiction, with an emphasis on new under-appreciated literature and works of excellence.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.  For reservations, please call the box office at (212) 362-0329.
