The Kitchen Riots, a three-night festival of dance, music, and theatre, has been announced for October 4, 5, and 6 at the Abingdon Theatre.
The festival, which is being produced by Purple Threads Ensemble (Dear Mr. Rosan, Cherry Lane Theatre), features a different artistic discipline for each night of performances. October 4 will be marked by dance performances helmed by Choreographer Renee Locher; October 5 will offer vocal acts under the creative direction of Executive Producer Erica Jacob; and October 6 features original theatre works by Founder/Artistic Director Danielle Velkoff and Co-writer Jen Brown. According to producers, The Kitchen Riots derives its inspiration from the lively conversations that take place around the dinner table, and beverages and treats will be incorporated as a part of the experience.
Purple Threads Ensemble describes The Kitchen Riots as a “journey through stories of hope and transformation” that encourages audience interaction and engagement. Most recently, Purple Threads Ensemble hosted The Kitchen Riots Benefit Concert featuring Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Anything Goes) headlining a roster of New York performers. Tickets for The Kitchen Riots are available for purchase via www.thekitchenriots.org.
