Mark Bazer is bringing "The Interview Show" back to Union Hall in Brooklyn on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 8 p.m. (doors open 7:30 p.m.).

His guests are Brian d'Arcy James (Tony-nominated Broadway actor and cast member of NBC's upcoming show "Smash"), Nate Silver (author of The New York Times' FiveThirtyEight blog), Julie Klausner (author of "I Don't Care About Your Band" and host of the "How Was Your Week?" podcast) and Nicole Atkins (singer-songwriter, recent album "Mondo Amore").

Tickets are $8. They can be purchased at the door or in advance here: http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=3939335

The October 13 show is The Interview Show's second stop at Union Hall. At the debut, sold-out Union Hall show, in May 2011, guests included comedian Eugene Mirman, Prune chef and author Gabrielle Hamilton and rap group Das Racist.

Overall, "The Interview Show" is almost four years old (it began in February 2008) and is typically held monthly in Bazer's hometown, Chicago, at the beloved indie music club The Hideout (launching pad for musicians Andrew Bird, Neko Case and others).

In Chicago, Bazer, 37, has had such guests as documentary filmmaker Steve James ("Hoop Dreams"), John Stirratt and Patrick Sansone of Wilco and The Autumn Defense, rapper Kid Sister, "WTF" podcaster Marc Maron, actor John Mahoney, tween fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson, Pulitzer-Prize-winning playwright and actor Tracy Letts and comedian Hannibal Buress.

The 15- to 20-minute interviews with each guest are just the right length for conversations that are both thoughtful and entertaining - somewhere between a late-night show like "Letterman" or "Conan" and a more sober-minded program like "Charlie Rose." Performances by the interview guests and Bazer's own comedy bits are interspersed.

Along with hosting "The Interview Show," Mark Bazer is a blogger for WBEZ.org (Chicago's public radio station) and a syndicated columnist for Tribune Media Services.
