Gabe Perillo, Jr., son of the late
artist, is including several of his father's iconic images in the exhibition, so don't miss the opportunity to see these remarkable paintings of your favorite sports icons up close and personal, and to hear stories of the life and work of this world renowned Staten Island artist. Registration begins for the spring semester of Italian language classes. Due to popular demand, they will be offering "Introduction to Italian Language, History and Culture Part 1" again, as well as a continuing part 2 class. All classes begin the week of February 22.
Sunday, January 31 at 1 p.m. A reading and booksigning of Thanksgiving 1959, written by Staten Island Advance sportswriter Jay Price. Subtitled "When One Corner of New York City Was Still Part of Small-Town America, and High School Football Was the Last Thing Guys Did For Love," the book is set on Staten Island in the autumn of 1959. Although it is the true story surrounding a legendary city championship football game, Thanksgiving 1959 is more than a sports book. It lovingly evokes the simpler life "before the bridge" when, just like all small towns in America, everyone turned out for The Thanksgiving Day football game between historic rivals-in this case, Curtis vs New Dorp. This is the week before SuperBowl and there will be no football games to watch, so come get your football "fix," and a great book to read as well. Books will be available for purchase and can be personally autographed by the author.
Saturday, February 13 from 7-9 p.m. Free wine and cheese reception for Loren Ellis. Her show "Memories of Living in Italy," is a collection of one-of-a-kind non-digital photographic paintings. After the opening, "Memories of Living in Italy" can be seen during regular museum hours (Tues-Sun, 1-5 p.m.) with paid museum admission of $5 (members are free). This show will close on May 2, 2010.
February 21 at 1 p.m. As a part of the Terza Domenica Heritage Series, Professor
Louis Leonini will start spring off a little early with "Italian Customs and Traditions for St. Joseph's Day & Easter." Admission is $5, members are free. Seating is limited.

There will be a free wine and cheese reception. You will have an opportunity to buy the book and have it personally autographed by the author as
well as some of the folks featured in the book.
