The Forecast feat. Brian Bonz will play Wednesday, June 27, 2012 (Doors 7:30 PM / Show 8:30 PM) at Knitting Factory Brooklyn, 361 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211.
The Forecast claims their sound, while influenced by bands such as Rainer Maria, Braid, and The Anniversary, main influence is their hometown of Peoria, Illinois, and the small town, blue collar atmosphere that surrounds it. "Our biggest influence is the people we are surrounded by, our friends and family. We come from a town that is pretty easy to get discouraged in and witnessing some of them give up their dreams for factory jobs or worse helped form some of our songs," said guitarist/singer Dustin.
Since starting in 2001, they slowly built up a rabid following not only in their home state, but in the entire Midwest as well. In 2004, the current lineup of the band formed, and released a handful of ep’s before recording their debut record, Late Night Conversations, on Victory Records. Since then, they have released three additional records, with the newest, Everybody Left, released earlier this year. Musically, their sound is synonymous with their multiple vocal and harmonies, which can range from sweet lullabies into punk like gang vocals. This is a band that can do a bit of everything, give off a great sense of atmosphere and calamity, and then go straight for the throat with rock and roll attitude.
Brian Bonz gains inspiration from living in New York City, creating ambient indie rock based on Manhattan real estate, 9/11 and events and everyday occurrences that bind all New Yorkers.
