'The Fantasticks' Welcomes New Lovers, Burke Moses Returns

The Fantasticks will welcome Douglas Ullman, Jr. to the role of "Matt" on Tuesday, October 29 and Whitney Bashor to the role of "Luisa" on Monday, November 5.  Both have appeared in the new production previously.  Having recently completed a run in the American Musical Theater of San Jose's production of Guys and Dolls, Burke Moses will return to the role of "El Gallo" on Tuesday, October 29.

Nick Spangler, Julie Craig and Ivan Hernandez currently appear in the roles.

 The Fantasticks opened on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at New York's Snapple Theater Center (210 West 50th Street at Broadway).  The beloved, musical love story features music by Harvey Schmidt and book and lyrics by Tom Jones (also director).

 The trio joins the current cast of The Fantasticks which includes Thomas Bruce ("Henry"), John Deyle ("Hucklebee"), Jordan Nichols ("The Mute") Robert R. Oliver ("Mortimer") and Martin Vidnovic as ("Bellomy").

Tickets are $76, with a special $36 ticket price for selected seating on Sunday evening performances, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com at 212-307-4100.

Douglas Ullman, Jr (Matt) returned to the United States after playing Rolf in the Asian tour of The Sound of Music. Other credits include Cabaret, Godspell, Grease and Ragtime.  Ullman is a graduate of New York University's Steinhardt School.  Douglas Ullman, Jr. created the role of "The Mute" in this revival of The Fantasticks.

Whitney Bashor (Luisa) Recent credits include, regional: To The Lighthouse (Berkeley Repertory Theatre), Kind Hearts and Coronets (Sundance Theatre Lab).  New York: Bus To Buenos Aires (Ensemble Studio Theatre). TV: "Love Monkey," "All My Children."  Film: Off The Black (Starring Nick Nolte).   Concerts: Gavin Creel's "Prom King" (Second Stage), Become: Music of Pasek and Paul (Joe's Pub), Edges (Abington Theatre Co.).  Whitney is a graduate of The University of Michigan's Musical Theatre Program.

Burke Moses (El Gallo).  Broadway: created the role of "Gaston" in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (also in Los Angeles and London); Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate; Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls and Herakles in Stephen Sondheim's The Frogs. He most recently performed the role of Sky Masterson in the American Musical Theater of San Jose's Guys and Dolls.  He sang at the City Opera in Most Happy Fella, performed many times in the Encores! series, and has worked extensively in regional theaters, on tour, in concert, and on television.  Mr. Moses originated the role of El Gallo in this revival of The Fantasticks and can be heard on the cast recording.
