The Drowsy Chaperone has set a new house record at the Marquis Theatre, grossing $1,047,478 for the week ending October 8, 2006. The show breaks its own Marquis Theatre box office record of $1,032,259 for the week ending June 25th, 2006.
The recipient of 13 major awards, The Drowsy Chaperone, a completely original new musical comedy is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot), with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winners Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and a book by Tony Award-winners Bob Martin and Don McKellar, began previews April 3, 2006 and opened May 1, 2006 at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway).
The show received the most Tony Awards of any musical this season - 5 in total, including Best Book and Best Score, 7 Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, 4 Outer Critic's Circle Award including Outstanding Score and the Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical.

Sutton Foster, as well as Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel, Bob Martin and Danny Burstein, are among the stars.
The musical plays Tuesday – Saturday at 8:00 p.m. with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
