R.A.T in association with Love Creek Productions will present The Death in the Juniper Grove, written and directed by Le Wilhelm and featuring Nancy McDoniel(United Flight 93).
The production begins previews Tuesday, August 15th at 7:30 pm and
opens Friday, August 18th at 7:30 pm.
The show "tells the story of four 18 years old friends whose lives are forever altered when they go to the juniper grove and only three of them return. Thirty years later, the three remaining friends go back to discover what happened all those years ago -- back to the juniper grove to find if death still lives there," according to press notes.
Featured in the cast are Kristin Carter, Vito Cottone, Nancy McDoniel (United Flight 93), Paul A. Nicosia, Jon Oak, Joanie Schumacher and Jaclyn Sokol.
Wilhelm returns to 59E59Theaters after writing and directing last summer's sold out world premiere of Maidens Progeny, an Afternoon with Mary Cassatt. He has a number of plays published by Samuel French, most recently, a collection of his short works, Eight Plays From the Heartland, and his Missouri Trilogy is represented by Samuel French as well. He was the recipient of the Florida Council of the Arts grant. Currently, Wilhelm is finishing his new drama, Thanatopia, and the social comedy, Clitorides Gigantium, and will start a play called The Quem Queritius Syndrome, a contemporary version of A Doll's House where the man leaves because of sexism and stifling.
The design team includes sets by Lex Liang, lighting by Megan Bezdek and Rachel Sterner, costumes by Cynthia Winstead and sound by Gregg David Shore.
The mission of R.A.T.'s (Rage Against Time) is to discover, foster and produce new plays as well as "lost" or seldom produced plays of the past that represents a variety of cultural aspects outside of the American theatrical mainstream.
The Death in the Juniper Grove run August 15 through September 3rd, Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm (except Sunday September 3rd when there will be a 2:30 pm matinee only).
