The DASH Ensemble, a contemporary dance group committed to expanding physical and theatrical boundaries of contemporary dance in the twenty first century, announces its second full length evening of work. Everything will be the culmination of The DASH Ensemble's seven-week summer residency at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Showcasing highly physical movement supported by a conceptually rich foundation, this new work choreographed by Artistic Director Gregory Dolbashian, employs contemporary dance vocabulary blended with physical theater, urban floorwork, and narrative structure to create a simultaneously accessible yet challenging piece.

The new production will be centered on the experience of growing up, using New York as its backdrop. Drawing from their training with dramaturge Bill Williams, Everything is cinematic in nature, using narrative scenes to structure the work. By positioning so many different modes of performance in conversation with one another, the audience will bear witness to a new brand of performer? someone who is not merely a dancer or actor, but a physical storyteller who is able to move seamlessly between and acutely blend the two, so as to affect their viewer on an emotional and intellectual level.

"The DASH is a metaphor based on the symbol used to notate an individual's lifespan," explains Dolbashian. Birth date (--) death date. Life is The DASH, and everything that we focus our work on is about that life. Our contribution, both artistic and mundane depicts our life, and the events that occur in it. It is also a significant culmination of the past five years of our life as a creative thinktank. No matter how big or how small the events may be between the dates of birth and death, they are epic in the development of each story-non-repeatable, non-refundable and completely original."

Tisch School of the Arts at New York University has very graciously provided the necessary space and resources for the inception of this production. This residency marks the first stages of development of Everything.

This one night only performance will take place on July 1, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are priced at $15 in advance and $20 cash at the door. Advanced tickets can be purchased at: thedashensemble.org
