"The Dance Team of Nippon Sport Science University: A Night of Immersing to Japan" will perform at The Tank located at 354 W. 45th Street, New York, NY 10036 on Monday, March 22, 2010; 7:30pm. Tickets to the performance will be $10.
The Dance Team of Nippon Sport Science University has an over 60 year history. In recent years, it has expanded the breadth of its actvities in association with Traditional Arts Course, established in 2000. Today, in addition to contemporary dance, the dance team performs Japanese drum and a variety of traditional dances, creating new paths to the folk arts. They have been performing abroad in Australia, Germany and Spain since 2003.
The performance is unique mixture of short pieces from traditional Japanese dance, drum and contemporary dances which are chiefly choreographed by dance artists Hiroko Takahashi, Noriko Kato and Takako Segawa, who are alumnae of the University.
